Sewbon.com :: Sewbon Easy Color Block Skirt Tutorial

Keeping with the topic of skirts (my current obsession), I want to thank everyone who voted for my skirt for the straight skirt round in Skirt Week 2013! The two winners had absolutely amazing skirts and they have totally inspired me to venture into sewing fitted skirts. Congrats ladies!

Also, if you haven’t already, you should check out the top 10 full skirts up for voting today. They are all fabulous!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I’ve got a friend who really wants to get into sewing but I am the very worst teacher (her words, not mine, though I agree!) so i’ve just shown her this tute and your other gathered skirt tute. We both agree that they’re both really clear and the results look great, so good job!

Aww, thanks so much! I really appreciate the feedback! I’m just learning how to write tutorials so please let me know if anything isn’t clear. :)

Hello – I have just stumbled upon your lovely blog – I just love the things you have made, they’re actually making me rather excited as I am just starting to (re)learn to sew! The fabrics you use are divine, I hope you don’t mind me asking where you get them from …?

Thanks so much for the kind words, Em! Your blog is adorable and your Crochet Peter Pan Collar is genius!

I buy a lot of my fabrics from local shops here in Denver. I also love Joann’s for the basics and they have a lot of hidden gems. Oh, and I just made my first purchase from fabric.com. I was really nervous about it since I couldn’t feel the fabrics first, but the order was great and they have a wonderful return policy.

Loving this, Erin! I think I need to sew up several of these. I tend to live in skirts in the summer. I featured this idea in my 10 Fabulous Summer DIYs list today on my blog! http://www.missloviecreations.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-favorite-things-thursday-10-fabulous.html You can come check it out and grab a button if you want!
