Before heading out to Sewing Summit (recap here), I signed up for a secret swap. The premise behind the secret swap is that I would be assigned a partner to sew for but she wouldn’t know who I was until the swap exchange and someone would get me as a partner to sew for, although I wouldn’t know who that person was until the exchange.
I got to sew for Jessie from Tiny House and she picked the colors purple and green. I went back and forth on what kind of project I wanted to make for her as I was super nervous to sew a project for someone else (most of my sewing is for me and I get really nervous when sewing for others!).
I love the Waterfront Park Pleated Tote tutorial from the Sewing Rabbit, so that was my starting point. I went to shrink the measurements a little and ended up accidentally shrinking the width a lot. So, when I realized my ‘tote’ was barely going to be able to fit a magazine (yikes!), I improvised and made it into a fold over clutch! I just shortened the length a lot and added a button and button hole to the top portion. I think it turned out cute and it was the perfect size to stuff some goodies in the bag – some purple and green thread, a magnetic pin holder, and some purple Madelinetosh yarn. 🙂
And look how at this amazing hexi pouch that my secret partner, JoDee from Sew Much Crafting made for me! I LOVE it! To learn more about her hexi pouch and a second business card pouch she made for me, check out her post here.
