EEEeeeeeeeee!!! Can I write a post that’s just me screaming?! Too obnoxious? Well, the Jo-Ann 2014 Spring Look Book just got published online and my Metallic Polka Dot Umbrella Tutorial is in it! EEEEeeeeee!
Back in November Jess, of The Sewing Rabbit, asked if anyone on her Sewing Rabbit Team would be interested in creating a tutorial for Jo-Ann. After I picked my jaw up off the keyboard, I typed back yes as fast as I could.
Jo-Ann’s had defined 5 trends that they were looking for tutorials for, and I picked Metallic because I might have a slight obsession with gold.
I wanted to make a tutorial for a project that anyone could do. That a person wouldn’t have to have a sewing machine, a crazy amount of patiences or time, or a huge budget to make. After chatting about it with my friend Katie, I had secured a clear umbrella from her and a plan.
And, since Katie had been instrumental in the project, I convinced her that she needed to photograph it for me. Unlucky for her, it was a frigid day in December and the high was 9 degrees the day we shot it. The hydrangeas that I bought literally died before my eyes and the plastic on my umbrella got super crunchy after being exposed to the horrid temperatures . But, I hope you can’t tell that I was shivering in the pictures!
Make sure to check out the Jo-Ann 2014 Spring Look Book to see all the other amazing trends and projects. And, make sure to visit my umbrella on page 13 and to see the project with the link to the tutorial here!

Psst – if you click on the “Download Project PDF” link, my hands are in the pictures! It’s like I’m a hand model for Jo-Ann now! EEeeeee!
