When I was shopping for groceries (aka cereal, candy, and mascara) the other day, I saw some scary halloween felt masks. Well, as scary as Frankenstein, a warty green witch, and a spooky owl can be. Since my style is more Casper the Friendly Ghost than Freddy Krueger, I thought it would be fun to make some felt masks that put the HAPPY in happy halloween.
So for this month’s Cricut Design Challenge, I’m sharing the tutorial and project files to make THREE woodland animal felt masks!
Check out the tutorial below or Pin this project for later!
Want to make one (or three) too? Let’s get started!
- Cricut Explore
- Woodland Animal Felt Mask Project Files
- 12 x 12 Strong Grip Mat
- Felt in various colors
- HeatnBond Extra Firm Fusible Craft Interfacing
- Sewing Machine, hand needle and embroidery thread, or craft glue
If you are sad you don’t have a Cricut yet but want to make this project, you still can! Download the bunny, bear, and skunk templates in PDF format HERE to cut the pattern pieces by hand.
One: Iron on the extra firm fusible craft interfacing to the back of the felt. This will help the machine cut the felt easily.
Two: Place the felt with the interfacing facing down on a strong grip mat. Make sure it is adhered very well.
Three: Set the Smart Set Dial on the Cricut to ‘Custom’.
Four: Download and unzip the Woodland Animal Felt Masks Zip file and upload the .SVG File into Design Space as a vector image.
Five: Click ‘Go’ and follow the on screen prompts. When prompted, click on ‘Material Settings’ and select ‘Felt’.
Six: Cut the project.
Seven: Assemble the mask with either a sewing machine, a hand needle and embroidery thread, or craft glue.
Eight: Attach the ribbon to the mask.
And that’s it! It’s a super quick and easy project to make fun woodland animal masks that would be great for halloween or for dress up anytime of the year!
