I think this might be my longest sewing project to date. I’m pretty into instant gratification, so these Amy Butler Honey Bun Poufs have been quite the labor of love for me.

It took 180 triangles and approximately 8 episodes of Gossip Girl on Netflix, but I now have two GIANT poufs made out of adorable fabric from the latest in house collection, Coyote, by Hawthorne Threads!

I’m not much of a quilter so quilting fabrics aren’t something I use too often, but I’m pretty smitten with the Coyote line! I think it would look really cute in a nursery or kids room, as a tote bag, or as an oven mitt.

I have a little bit of this fabric left over, so an oven mitt or hot pad might be in the sewing queue soon. Plus, I recently took an interest in cooking (about time, right?), so having some cute kitchen things would be fun!

I made the large and medium size poufs and pretty much followed the directions. These beauties are made with quilting cotton on the top, a heavy canvas interfacing, and 1/4 inch quilt batting.

I skipped the beanbag fill for these since I wanted to be able to take the stuffing out easily so I could wash them and I just used a poly-fill that I found at Joanns. I used a longer zipper than the pattern calls for (16 or 18 inches) so I could put in and pull out the fluff easier.

Also, the instructions in the pattern for installing the zipper confused me a bit, so I just sewed it in the way I usually do and it worked like a charm.

I originally thought these poufs would make for great extra seating in our living room, but it appears as though the animal friends are staking their claim.

Michie’s all “Princess and the Pea” up in here… the more fluff, the better! It’s a good thing the pets are cute because these just became the most labor intensive pets bed I have ever made.
